The panoramic imaging technology, which can capture scene information of360degrees around a single viewpoint with more quickly and accurately, allows the researchers to know the changes of surroundings in scene and has made great progress compared with the traditional video image processing technology. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of the panoramic imaging technology are analyzed, and a image acquisition and processing system based on the panoramic imaging technology is designed, which uses DSP for main processor and FPGA for associate processor. Traditional panoramic image unrolling method can’t satisfy the requirement of both the imaging quality and real-time. As a result, a new unrolling method, which is symmetric multiplexing panoramic image unrolling method based on optical path tracking, is adopted. Simulations validate the feasibility of this method on the panoramic image unrolling process, and in unrolling process, bilinear interpolation method is introduced, based on which, unrolling performance is improved. The result indicates that the scheme can not only improve the imaging quality, but also can meet the real-time requirements.
