According to observation of the regional economy, it is obvious that the spatialstructure of regional economic growth in China has changed a lot since the reform andopening-up. Based on the existed researches, this paper analyzed these changes fromtwo aspects, the growth polar in regional economy and spatial organization network, and attempt to reveal the characteristics of this posses.Firstly, this paper analyzed the characteristics of the Growth Polar, and putforward a method of identifying growth polar from three aspects, scale, the extent offocus and the ability of interaction with the hinterland. Secondly, by analyzing thechanges of growth polar since the year of1985, the paper summarized the differentfunctions of growth polar in different phases. The analyze showed that the evolvementof growth polar in China has experienced a process of spreading from the Eastern tothe Middle and the Western. Before the year of2000, growth polar in China mainlycentered in the littoral provinces, include the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei metropolitanregion, the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. Since the year of2000, alot of urban agglomerations in the Middle and the Western began to came up, and thetrend of multi-polar development became more and more obvious.By the application of the network analysis and inter-locking network model, thispaper analyzed the spatial organization network in regional economy. The analyze ofthe network showed that the transportation network has been built up and differentcities have different status in the network. From the aspect of accessibility, Beijing,Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan and Xi’an have remarkableadvantages. These cities are the core cities in the development of regional economy. From the aspect of connection between companies, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhouand Wuhan are the pivot cities, and Zhengzhou, Xi’an, Chengdu and Fuzhou areimportant support of the network. In contrast, Jinan and Shenyang have a much lowerstatus in the network. In general, the spatial structure of regional economy in China has alreadypossessed the characteristic of multi-polar with network.
