International Contract Research Projects Carried Out In Recent Years, Chinese Enterprises In ASEAN

During resent years, Chinese enterprises made remarkable achievements in thefield of international engineering contracting projects, although they only startedwalking to this field from late1970s. Nowadays, Asia has already become the maininternational engineering contracting market for Chinese enterprises. In Asia, thosecountries of ASEAN with high economic growth speed are the main target market ofinternational engineering contracting for Chinese enterprises. Since China-ASEAN freetrade area (CAFTA) was founded around three years ago, it has already shows itsfunction and realistic meaning of improving Chinese enterprises’ internationalengineering contracting projects.This paper is mainly focusing on the development status of Chinese enterprises’international engineering contracting after CAFTA was founded, and trying to find thedeep reason why Chinese enterprises can put more attention and more resources on thefield of international engineering contracting in ASEAN. Compared with differentcountries and different industries, this paper lists the achievements of Chineseenterprises in ASEAN, and points out some factors which will have negative effects onthe international engineering contracting projects, such as unstable politic in someASEAN countries, lack of construction budget, different technical standard, anddissatisfied financing ability, etc. Meanwhile, the paper gives some advice forimproving the international engineering contracting of Chinese enterprises, likestrengthen the inter-governmental communication, put the agreements of CAFTA intopractice as much as possible, and improve the core competitiveness of Chineseenterprises. Finally, it gets its conclusion that Chinese enterprises should continue toparticipate and put more effort on international engineering contracting projects inASEAN.
