With the continuous development of the financial sector, the banking industry is at the core of the dominant position of the financial system. China’s banking industry has been opening its doors, whether it is financial services product innovation has entered the system of the World Bank. However, at the same time, competition in the banking sector is inevitable, especially after the financial crisis, the domestic banking sector plagued face the risk of rebound in the rate of non-performing loans and real estate loan is uncollectible and many other factors, making the development of the banking industry by heavy blow. For the late start Urban Commercial Banks, still facing small-scale service object, limited by the level of local economic development, any course there are many shortcomings compared with other commercial banks, and competition is particularly prominent.On the basis of summarizing the relevant literature and relating theories,this paper analyzes the characteristics of ownership structure of China’s Urban Commercial Banks. And this paper selects15non-listed city commercial banks as the study sample and the2008-2011annual report data as a data source,uses the correlation analysis method to analyze the shareholding structure of the Urban Commercial Banks and the correlation between operating performance, from the two aspects of the ownership concentration and equity properties. The analysis showed that the proportion of the largest shareholder and operating performance is negatively correlated; the sum of Top Ten Shareholders’proportion and operating performance is positively correlated; national shareholding proportion and operating performance is negatively correlated; legal person shares ownership and operating performance is positively correlated.Finally, on the basis of the empirical results, this paper puts forward relevant policy recommendations and provides a basis to improve the operating performance of China’s Urban Commercial Banks, from the perspective of optimize the ownership structure, and improving corporate governance mechanism.
