With the rapid development of social economics, there is an increasing demand of natural resources, thus the conflict between the human and environment is becoming increasingly fierce. To seek a sustainable way of development of human and resources has become a common task facing all countries.Nonferrous metal industry is one of Chinese basic industries. Nonferrous metal plays an indispensable role in the Chinese economy. The dominance of nonferrous metal in Chinese energy structure is difficult to shake. The sustainable development of nonferrous metal industry is the foundation of the sustainable development of China’s social and economic sustainable development. Nonferrous metal enterprises are the cells of the nonferrous metal industry, thus the sustainable development of nonferrous metal enterprises is of utmost importance.With the support of the basic theory associated, given the requirements of sustainable development and the characteristics of the Nonferrous metal industry, I clarify the importance of the Nonferrous metal industry to our energy security and economic as well as the necessity and urgency of sustainable development of the Nonferrous metal companies. By using PEST analysis and five forces model, I analyze the advantages and disadvantages of larger nonferrous metal enterprises. Then, from the perspective of sustainable development, by using the SWOT-QSPM analysis, I determine the comprehensive development of resources and diversification which is the best strategic choice for nonferrous metal enterprises in China based on sustainable development is constructive and feasible.The paper ends with a case study of the DONGSHENGMIAO mineral company. By using the method mentioned above I confirmed the sustainable development ideas and work of the DONGSHENGMIAO mineral company. And I come to the conclusion that the comprehensive development of resources and diversification is the best strategic choice as to the sustainable development of China’s nonferrous metal enterorises.
