Along with the deepening of the global economic integration, the communicationbetween the countries is becoming closely, and international vertical specializationdevelops rapidly. As one of the important economies of the world economy, the verticalspecialization has penetrated into many areas of Chinese economy, and becomes theimportant feature of it. The important performance is the rapid growth of processingtrade. In2012, the total import and export value of Chinese processing trade is1343.95billion dollars, accounts for a large proportion of foreign trade, every industry verticalspecialization level grows up. At the same time, energy and environmental issues are alsoprominent. Since1997, China has become the energy-importing country. During goodsproduction stage, the low level of energy efficiency results in the large energy of Chinesetrade consumption. However, the trade of intermediate products in the process of verticalspecialization can reduce goods production processes, thereby saving our energyconsumption, reducing the goods energy consumption.By input-output, the paper analysis industry vertical specialization and industry unitenergy consumption levels from2004to2010. We’ll find industry vertical specializationlevels are different, but all emerge upward trend, but have shown downward in unitcommodity energy consumption. Considering other factors, we use econometrics modelto consider the relationship between industry vertical specialization and per unit ofenergy consumption through panel data. We find vertical specialization have a positiveimpact on goods unit energy consumption. So, in order to solve our energy problems, wecan not only improve technical level, but deepen international vertical specialization toreduce the energy consumption of the commodities. There is an important significancefor our country to transfer the pattern of economic development. On the basis ofempirical research, this paper claim that we can improve intermediate goods trade, payattention to technology innovation, adjust industrial structure and related policies.
