Research On Export Competitiveness Of China Under Vertical Specialization Perspective

With the continuous development of economic globalization, the international division of labor are constantly changing. Since the 1990 s, the international division of labor has moved from inter-industry division of labor, division of labor within the industry to vertical specialization.China have more and more involved in vertical specialization. At the same time, improved export competitiveness is an important way to stimulate economic growth in China. Thus, in theory, to consider the impact of participation in vertical specialization, can be better able to analyze the competitiveness of China's exports, in practice, a reasonable analysis of export competitiveness, can has important practical significance to optimize export structure and change foreign trade development.Firstly, The paper consider the impact of vertical specialization, which vertical specialization makes a country's export products contain a large amount of imported inputs. Secondly, noting export competitiveness should include technical and market competitiveness, related industrial competitiveness, and the vertical specialization competitiveness in three areas. Then, using WIOD database which contains 1995--2011 years export data of 40 countries, 35 industries, and using input-output method exclude imported inputs. On this basis, the competitiveness of China's exports were estimated with constructing the index system, using principal component analysis, factor analysis and statistical analysis,the main conclusions are:(1) China's exports competitiveness of labor-intensive products is still obvious advantages.(2) the export competitiveness of capital-intensive goods has rised, but for some products its export competitiveness is still insufficient. a considerable number of products with export competitiveness can have a place in the world,no matter it is capital-intensive or capital-intensive manufactured goods, service products,.(3) the export competitiveness of knowledge-intensive manufactured goods increased year by year, while the export competitiveness of the knowledge-intensive, the health, education and public services and other services products products are mixed. the export competitiveness of Knowledge-intensive manufactured goods, in the past 17 years, have shown a steady upward trend.(4) It is mainly the improvement of technology market competitiveness that enhance the competitiveness of our exports, the competitiveness of participation in vertical specialization has played a minor role in enhancing the competitiveness of China's exports. Finally, on the basis of the above conclusions, in order to stabilize the macro growth, structural adjustment, we put forward policy recommendations on how to enhance our export competitiveness.
