Commercial bank branch director is the core management personnel of a commercial bank grass-roots outlet, in charge of the whole outlet’s business and performance, including network president (site director) and vice president. Along with the reform and development of banking, the influence of basic particles on the development of the bank is becoming more and more big, bank branch director as the leader of basic particle is of vital significance to the development of the basic particle, so the research on the competency model of head of commercial bank branches, and applying it to the selection and training of commercial bank branch directors, has important theoretical and practical significance.This paper starts from the three aspects of connotation of competency, competency model and competency model of bank management and employee to summarize the relevant theories of competency; and introduce the nature of the work of head of commercial bank branches and the quality requirements from their work; then use the improved behavioral event interview to extract the competency of head of commercial bank branches, and according to the competency of head of commercial bank branches designs a questionnaire survey, carries out the investigate; then uses statistical software SPSS18.0for entering and analyzing data, through exploratory factor analysis, constructs the competency model of head of commercial bank branches, the competency model of head of commercial bank branches established in this paper including personal characteristics, service attitude, knowledge and ability, management ability and interpersonal development ability5primary factors and the relevant23secondary factors; and comparative analyse the difference of competence level of head of commercial bank branches; finally, discuss on the application to human resource with the competency model of head of commercial bank branches from recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and career management.
