The Influence Of Modern Logistics Standardization On Logistics Industry

This article studies the long tail of logistics industry and analyzes the influenceof standardization on logistics industry in light of both theories and empiricalevidences.Firstly, this article analyzes the dialectical relationship between hits and niches inthe long tail and the development tendency of logistics industry. Then it identifies theperformance of standardization on the development of logistics industry.Secondly, it analyzes the influence through three aspects, logistics scale, logisticscost, and logistics service quality. It finds that standardization enlarges logistics scalethrough scale economy, network effect, and information sharing and reducesmeasurable and immeasurable logistics cost. And it also improves logistics servicequality through increasing logistics efficiency, optimizing logistics structure, andadding value to logistics value chain. Thus we summarize a comprehensive model ofthe standardization influence on logistics industry.Thirdly, empirical results show that standardization closely connects to logisticsindustry, it enlarges logistics scale and reduces logistics cost remarkably.Standardization can be an important tool of state macro control to logistics industry.The data of standardization positively relates to the date of total social logisticsignificantly, while negatively relates to the date of social logistics cost significantly.Finally, this article throws out some suggestion about standardization andpresents the shortages and future research directions.
