A Research About The Eastern And Western Cultures For The Impact Of Merton’s Scientific Norms

With the academic dishonesty behavior emerge in endlessly, more and more people began to question why Merton’s Scientific Norms can’t play a good role to conduct the behaviour of Scientists in our country? what is the cultural background about Merton’s Scientific Norms? whether or not the different culture lead to the different attitude about Merton’s Scientific Norms?Based on collecting relative materials, this paper creatively discuss the different cultural reason that cause Merton’s Scientific Norms and anti-norms use of the methods of comparative analysis and statistical analysis. The Puritan culture give the deeply influence to Merton, but Puritan culture doesn’t represent the western culture. At the same time, the Chinese cultures are different of the western cultures, different cultures will inevitably lead to different norms. This paper will do some researches from four aspects:Firstly, discuss the different culture between Chinese and Western, and Chinese and western culture will be divided into several dimensions to make a contrast. Secondly, discuss the connotation and cultural background of Merton’s Scientific Norms; Thirdly, Select respondents who have different cultural backgrounds to investigate their attitudes about Merton’s Scientific Norms. According to the survey, based on the data of the analysis, from the cultural perspective to explain the reason that cause these differences. At last, from the cultural perspective to explain the rationality about norms and anti-norms.This paper discusses the influence that the difference of the Chinese culture and Western culture to Merton’s Scientific Norms, in order to find out the cultural reason that emerge norms and anti-norms. At the same time, give the explanation to the rationality that about norms and anti-norms in order to provide new train of thought about build anew scientific norms.
