With the continuous development and in-depth of the outside world, the economicdevelopment of China has made remarkable of brilliant achievements, the economicgrowth have sustained and rapidly advanced, trade of foreign were growing. But theimbalances of development of urban and rural and regional were worsening, and thatbecame a major difficulty constraining the sustainable development of economic inChina. The urban-rural income gap, within urban and within the rural continued towiden. At the same time, changes in the pattern of income distribution of the westernregion also showed significant differences. To find the effect of foreign trade onurban-rural income gap and influence degree and the trend is of great significance tonarrowing urban-rural income gap.The article comprehensive and profound expositionwould not foreign trade affect the urban-rural income gap, and how do that affect theurban-rural income gap on the basis of comprehensive theoretical and empiricalresearch by combining of quantitative and qualitative analysis of research methods.First of all, the article summarizes the results of previous studies and learn from thelessons at home and abroad to narrow the income gap between urban and ruralareas,describes and analyzes status and changes of urban-rural income gap and foreigntrade of all and western regions in china, and summarizes the characteristics anddevelopment trends of the urban-rural income gap. Then, the analysis discusses theapplicability of the S-S theorem in the western region, and tests qualitative analysis ofthe results,and made empirical research in the fourth part using the data12provincesand cities of the western region in2000-2010by the linear regression method. In actualoperation, the article obtained model estimation results in accordance with reality. Theempirical results show that S-S theorem is used in the western region,but foreign tradehas no significant impact for the urban-rural income gap of western region, because ofthe western region is underdeveloped areas and its foreign trade is smaller. Combiningthese results and the opportunity of inland opening for western region, the articleanalysis other theorems about the impact of the foreign trade for the urban-rural incomegap and made a qualitative analysis,and analysis current situation factor endowments,industrial structure and foreign trade in western,and Summarize the mechanism offoreign trade affects Urban-rural income gap in the fifth part. The article made aqualitative analysis that foreign trade affects Urban-rural income gap of western in future. The analysis results show foreign trade may be expand the urban-rural incomegap of western region because of structure of foreign trade, factor markets, and nationaleconomic policy. Finally, the article in view of the analysis,combined with theexperience of narrowing the urban-rural income gap at home and abroad,proposescountermeasure and suggestions of narrowing the urban-rural income gap of westernregion, while the development of foreign trade of western region in the short term andnarrowing the urban-rural income gap.
