Study Of OFDI Reverse Spillover’s Impact On The Technological Innovation Performance

Technology innovation is the key source for national economic growth and thesurvival and development of enterprises. It’s necessary to continuously improve thecapability of independent innovation, meanwhile actively expanding externalspillover of technology is also an important way to improve technology innovation.As an essential part of the system of technology innovation, technology innovationperformance is a barometer of technology innovation capability. Foreign directinvestment in China grows steadily and gently in recent years, while the OFDI(outward foreign direct investment) is in a situation of accelerated growth. Both oftwo ways have a significant impact on the capability of domestic technologyinnovation. At present, scholars mainly focus on the influence of the overflow offoreign investment and few researches on reverse overflow of OFDI, let alone theinfluence of OFDI on domestic technology innovation performance. Based on it, thecorrelation analysis of OFDI and technology innovation performance is oftheoretical significance.This paper introduces the research background and significance from threeaspects: the importance of technological innovation, the limitations of foreign directinvestment and growth of OFDI. Then the elaboration of technology innovationtheory, direct investment theory and overflow theory provides theoretical supp ort forthe following analysis. Chapter Three goes deep into mechanism from fourperspectives, embedded network effect, the overflow resource acquisition, profitsfeedback effects and the effects of absorption ability, to indicate foreign directinvestment reverse spilled black box. Subsequently, it constructs the panel datamodel to test the influence of out foreign direct invest ment on domestic technologyinnovation performance through using OFDI data from2003to2010and takinginternational R&D spillover model. Finally, based on the theoretical analysis andempirical results, this paper puts forward corresponding measures resp ectively fromnational and business levels.The results show that foreign direct investment reverse overflow cansignificantly increase the domestic technology innovation performance, among ofwhich, the influence of the new product sales more than the pat ent grant influence.Form regional point of view, foreign direct investment reverse overflow to the eastern region of the role of the biggest, followed by central and eastern. Whentaking the human capital representation absorption ability in consideration, we foundthat it can promote backward spillover effect. Based on that, the article puts forwardcorresponding measures such as strengthen the independent innovation investment,especially in western region innovation investment, correctly guide foreign d irectinvestment and improve the human capital ability, etc., in order to make better use ofreverse overflow to improve domestic technology innovation performance.
