Economy hotel is a pattern in hotel industry which provides clean guest rooms, simple breakfast, and limited services only. It is superior in price than other patterns, and aims at the general public and businessmen.As an important developing city in Western China, Chengdu is a focus region of economy hotel industry. In2012, the GDP of Chengdu reached801,365,000,000RMB, which is up13percent from a year ago. With the rapid growth of the economy, more and more businessmen and enterprises managers choose economy hotel as their ideal accommodation. On the other hand, Chengdu is a famous tourism city, which attracts thousands of tourists to visit. Moreover, Chengdu tries to built itself as a’Leisure City’in recent years, which promotes several special tourism projects like rural tourism and ancient town tourism. Considering the target customer of the economy hotel, it is no doubt that Chengdu is going to be a typical competing arena in the next years.Based on the investigation of the accommodation consumption of economy hotel in Chengdu, the essay contains six chapters which are:Chapter one introduces the background, methods, significance, possible innovation and shortage of the essay, which tries to give a brief access to the research.Chapter two reviews the relative literatures which can be separated in three parts:part one is the consumption behavior and evaluation of the customers of economy hotel; part two enlarge the scale into all hotel patterns to study the influencing factors on customers’choices in the accommodation, for this part, almost all the studies are done by foreign researchers; part three generalizes domestic studies on economy hotel, which are about the marketing mode and development patterns of the industry. In general, researches about the consumption of domestic economy hotel is few, especially those about inland cities. Chapter three describes the current situation and future developing environment of economy hotel in Chengdu, and gives a brief introduction of the research, including the design and execution of the investigation.Chapter four is the highlight of the essay, which is the empirical analysis of economy hotel in Chengdu. Using SPSS and EXCEL, the essay tries to complete a deep information mining. Firstly, it gives a brief description of basic distribution structure such as gender/age and accommodation experience of the customers. Secondly, the essay extracts four aspects which the customers consider most in accommodation consumption through factor analysis. Thirdly, the essay analyzes the difference of interest focuses among different customers, and gives reasonable conclusion.Chapter five proposes countermeasures and suggestions based on the analysis and conclusion of chapter four on several aspects, which are market align, decoration design, marketing publicity, service, and brand building and so on.Chapter six suggests the future research directions on economy hotel based on the shortages and barriers of the essay. These directions contain enlarging the study scale to more cities, getting more macro and micro data of the social environment, improving the sampling method, and preparing deep structured interview of customers and administrators.For innovation, the essay has two points to demonstrate. Firstly, it is for the research perspective. There is little literature studies on the consumption of economy hotel in domestic China. Secondly, the essay focuses on Chengdu, which is a typical developing city for economy hotel in the next years, which can provide reference and comparison for other cities.
