This paper focuses on the risk management and control of university students’credit cards. From the perspective of commercial banks, the writer has investigated the current situation of how university students deal with credit cards in Hunan province and analyzed its traits and regularity. After establishing a related risk-valuation model, the paper has studied credit card risk management of university students and provided relevant solutions.The paper has surveyed the motivation of university student’ applying for credit cards, the service condition, the pieces of cards they owing, and analyzed their incomes, pattern of consumption, overdraft frequency, monthly mean revenue, repayment and default etc. The conclusion reveals that numbers of university students to apply for credit cards and of their owned credit cards are increasing. However, because of their consumption and income, some students can afford to pay off their credit cards. In addition, owing to the low standard of applying a credit card for a university student and incomplete individual credit system, banks are bearing rather high risk in the business of university students’ credit cards.On the issue of university students’credit card risk management, the author has studied the current status of how university students use their credit cards in Hunan province and analyzed the data by using Logstic model to assess the risk. The results show that, among all the factors that affect credit card using, average monthly income, overdraft frequency, the number of cards one having, education background, school and sex are in sequence what count most.Borrowing from abroad the experience of risk management on university students’credit cards and combining the domestic reality, the author has proposed the following suggestions:first, to standardize the applying procedure of credit cards for university students; second, to strengthen financial management and credibility education of university students; third, to establish credit card risk information sharing mechanism for university students; fourth, to complete internal control mechanism and risk evaluation system of university students’credit cards. fifth, speed up to EMV migration process.
