After the reform and opening up, The Yangtze River Delta region has be coming themost developed areas in China. The service industry as energy-saving and emissionreduction industry has been rapidly developing in the Yangtze River Delta region. In2011,Yangtze River Delta’s service industry increase a value to achieved46165.30hundred millionyuan, account for57%of gross national economy in the region, of which the Shanghai cityservice industry to GDP ratio is about60%, closing to the level of moderately developedcountries. The rapid development of service industry in the economic development and also tomake the industry energy consumption and carbon emissions increase sharply. Theenergy consumption of service industry in Yangtze River Delta has from2102.13milliontons of standard coal in2000up to7291.07million tons of standard coal in2011. In2011, theenergy-consume carbon dioxide emissions of service industry in Yangtze River Delta are12198.56million tons, accounting for20.43%of total carbon emissions of the YangtzeRiver Delta region, of which the carbon emissions of service industry in Shanghai has reachedabout40%of the whole city. The carbon emissions directly and indirectly caused by theservice industry have been rising. Therefore paying more attentions to the problems hasimportant significance to guide the service industry’s sustainable development in the YangtzeRiver Delta. This article’s main line is the relationship between service industry’s development inYangtze River Delta and service industry’s carbon emissions. First part expounds thebackground and significance of the study, throughing the literature review of the domestic andinternational research status, confirming the theoretical basis of the low carbon economydevelopment of service industry. Secondly, this article analyses the present situation andcharacteristics of energy consumption and energy-consume carbon dioxide emissionsof service industry of the Yangtze River Delta. Then based on the input-outputsubsystem theory, counting service industry carbon dioxide emissions caused by theproduction process which play up to eventually demand and discussion the emission factorscausing based on effections of carbon dioxide emissions. At the same time, this articleexplores the emission of carbon dioxide "key industry" in service industry, and put forwardthe corresponding carbon emission reduction policies and recommendations accordingto different impactions of different service industries on the economical carbon emission.Through the system analysis and research, the paper draws the following conclusion: theservice industry in Yangtze River Delta has entered a rapid development stage, high level, especially the development of service industry in Shanghai. With the development of serviceindustry’s scale. Service industry’s energy consumption and energy-consume carbonemission to volume growth year after year. The intensity of energy consumption and carbondioxide emissions of service industry decreased gradually. Energy consumption dependenton oil mainly, the oil consumption accounted for more than70%of energy consumption. The coal and natural gas consumption account for low proportion. The empirical analysisuse input-output subsystem to study the carbon dioxide emissions with five divided effect part of the carbon dioxide emissions of production activities which are to cater tothe final demand to service industry. The study find out that the indirect emissions’s playin carbon dioxide emissions in the service industry need to be focused on.Especially thecarbon dioxide emissions which caused by the pulling effect of service industry productionactivities to other industrial sectorcarbon dioxide emissions is large, which is the key todevelop emission reduction policy. The pulling effect of public administration and socialorganizations, other social services, transportation and ware housing industry, health, socialsecurity and social welfare, education this five big industry contribution is obvious.Thecarbon dioxide pulling effect of service industry mainly concentrated in the electricity, heatproduction and supply industry, petroleum processing, coking and nuclear fuel processingindustry, chemical industry, metal smelting and rolling processing industry, coal mining andwashing industry this kind of energy consumption, carbon emissions intensive industry. Therefore, changing the pattern of development of the service industry and reduce serviceindustry’s dependence on high energy consumption, high carbonindustry require urgentsolution. After analysis and decision"key" industries of service subsystem, finding out thatThe transportation and warehousing industry, the real estate industry, health, social securityand social welfare, education, and public management and social organization, wholesale andretail trade (Jiangsu and Zhejiang), accommodation and catering industry (Zhejiang andShanghai), other services (Jiangsu and Shanghai), the traditional service industry the industryhas a relatively high level of energy consumption, the economy overallemissions of carbondioxide has a strong influence on the"key"section; and to the modern service industry basedinformation transmission, computer service and software industry, leasing and businessservices, finance, culture, sports and entertainment industry, scientific research, postindustryand Jiangsu’s Hotel and catering industry,Zhejiang’s service industry and Shanghai wholesaleand retail industry carbon emissions on the economy pulling power is relatively small, needto focus on supporting anddeveloping. The high energy consumption and high carbon dioxide emissions traditionalservice industry should be limited by optimizing the service industry structure and productiontechnology’s reformation and upgrades. The promotion of modern service industry to expandthe scale of development, improving the proportion of these industries in GDP couldecontribute to the control and reduction the carbon dioxide emissions of service industry inYangtze River Delta.
