In2012, China’s minivan sales volume is about2,256,700accounted for14.56%of total passenger car sales and11.69%of total car sales. Minivan sales volume is the first of the world. China’s minivan industry started from1980s and introduce micro-car products from Japan, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Mitsubishi, Fuji and three other companies. There have been14enterprises in the domestic producing micro-cars including micro-sedan micro-truck and micro-van. Through three decades of development, national output is increasing from118in1982to over2million in2012. In2008, due to the financial crisis automotive market keeps a downturn, but minivan is the only car that keeps a steady growth, an increase of7.67%. China’s micro-car industry through just three decades of development, has come out of a development road of independent innovation, becoming an internationally competitive mini-car industry.For this paper, through the integrated use of multidisciplinary theories, to explore China’s micro-car industry internationally competitive mechanism of formation in order to promote China’s micro-car industry to further enhance the international competitiveness. The first chapter introduces the domestic and on industrial competitiveness, competitiveness of the automotive industry as well as micro-car industry related research, established the main contents of this paper. The second chapter describes the theoretical basis of this primary research, including Porter’s theory of national competitive advantage, technological innovation theory, theory of core competence and resource-based theory, through the study of these theories come to the main research methods. The third chapter describes our micro-car industry development status and its international competitiveness qualitatively and quantitatively. The forth chapter analyzes the element and its relationship of minivan competitive in the aspects of demand, policies, and technology. The fifth chapter selects representative enterprises of mini-car industry as a case study. The final chapter gives some recommendations about how to improve the international competitiveness of China’s micro-car industry in the future.
