Since more than30years reform and opening up, deposit and loan business have beenalways the pillar of the operation model of our banks, most of the revenue is net interestincome. Compare to the banks of developed countries, the intermediary business of ourcountry is still in the primary stage, no matter the amounts or the variety.With the development of financial system and economy of our country, the scale andprofitability of traditional deposit and loan business of our commercial banks have beenrestrained, intermediary business will be the future commanding profitability height of thecommercial banks. Specifically, in the situations including economic transformationof“The Twelfth Five Year Plan”、 deepen interest rate marketization、 financialdisintermediation, only rely on traditional net interest income is commercial bank hardlymaintain long-term competitiveness. At the same time, as diversity in customer demand,increasingly stringent regulatory capital and obviously mixed management trend forced,intermediary business, which species is single and lack of innovation have been unable tomeet the needs of a new era. Therefore, further studies must be conducted on the factorsand the development of intermediary business.So, theoretical foundation is firstly introduced to define the concept of theintermediary business; Then to talk about the new situations and SWOT of theintermediary business of our country, analysising the factors affecting the intermediarybusiness by using the panel data model; Lastly to offer proposals about the development ofthe intermediary business, including referring to experiences from America, puttingforward proposals aiming to the problems of the weight plates of the intermediary businessand so on, in order to promote the diversification of our intermediary business products,effectively meet customer needs and improve the competitiveness of our commercialbanks.
