As the direct users of cultivated land, peasant households’ investment behavior has direct relationship with the cultivated land amount guarantee and quality improvement, and it also plays crucial role in ensuring the national food security. Research from the microscopic view of the households’ behavior, in order to explore measures to stimulate households’ investment. This research can promote the sustainable use of cultivated land, ensure national food security and promote the development of agricultural modernization.The study area of this paper is dongting lake district, which is one of the major grain producing areas. It also researches383peasant households’ investment behaviors which from huarong and yuanjiang by questionnaires to realize the peasants’cultivated land investment status and their investment willing in labor time, capital (chemical fertilizer, pesticide, seed and machinery equipment, hires, field investment) and technology, respectively. By using multiple linear regression and Logistic mode. Based on the description analysis, this paper gets quantitative analysis on the6aspects of cultivated land investment, and draws the following conclusions:(1) Households’ cultivated land investment behavior is limited rational;(2) The enthusiasm of farmers to increase cultivated land protection investment is not high;(3) Households’ labor input is mostly influenced by economic variable and the cultivated land resources endowment variable;(4) Many factors have combined influence on households’cultivated land capital investment, such as household’s basic characteristic variable, cultivated land resources endowment variable, economic variable and so on;(5)Educational level influence mostly in technology investment.The following recommendations are made according to the research conclusions:(1) Improve agriculture products market, and guarantee households’agricultural income;(2) Perfect land circulation system and boost cultivated land scale management pattern;(3) Increase non-agricultural employment opportunities from remote area, and transfer the rural surplus labors;(4) Consummate agricultural subsidy policy, promote investment of cultivated land protection;(5) Enlarge insurance coverage and reduce investment losses;(6) Improve households’ educational level and promote agricultural science and technology.
