Research On The Diversified Industries Selection Of Resource-Based Enterprises

Today of the economic development,the resource consumption has reached critical level when the economic development. With the total amount of resources is dwindling and the environmental pollution is increasing,the state has introduced policies and measures to limit resource consumption and pollution emissions,and it encouraged resource-based enterprises get rid of the extensive mode of production to use intensive production methods and encouraged their increased capital investment to achieve business transformation.In view of this,the resource-based enterprises have choose the path of a diversified development.In such an environment of economic development,the paper choose the resource-based enterprises for the study,which research and analysis the selected industry content of the resource-based diversification.First,we define the resource-based enterprises as the enterprises which have a possession of the underground mineral resources and take production and primary processing of mineral resources as the basic production methods.The resource-based products enterprises take resource-based products as he main business of the product.The enterprises which would like to take use of natural resources in a natural area and rely on the consumption of resources to achieve the growth of enterprises. As China have large amount of resource-based enterprises that meet this definition and of which it is difficult to collect the data.Thus,we chose the last3years (2010-2012) listed companies of the resource-based enterprises as representatives. According to their main business and other business conditions,The text uses R-type cluster analysis method of the hierarchical clustering analysis to analysis the variable about the resource-based enterprises listed companies selected industry diversification.Based on the classification of financial networks and the SWS industry classification standard.The resource-based enterprises are mainly divided into three categories:non-ferrous metal industry,the energy industry and the steel industry.Through taking the cluster analysis to diversified select of these three types industry respectively,we draw a conclusion that listed companies of the non-ferrous metals select diversified industry mainly in power coal, aluminum-level processing and import and export trade and other industries,listed companies of the energy business select diversified industry focus on mainly in the coal chemical industry,electric power, railway transportation and other industries,the steel industry companies diversified business mainly in the chemical,coal,trade and other industries.These industries have three things in common that is a diversified industry tend to choose a higher correlation with the company’s main business sectors,but also get into some lower threshold, higher margin service industries,and some company will choose a lot of the more popular industries such as real estate, information technology and other industries.According to the study of listed companies of the resource-based enterprises,we can drawn that the diversified business of the resource-based enterprises should take the main business of its own for the center,to choose those industry sectors with high appeal and a strong correlation.Before selecting these diverse industries, resource-based companies should consider itself whether own the remaining resources to achieve the integration of upstream and downstream industry chain to achieve collaborative management and technology in order to reduce production costs.At the same time,the resource-based enterprises should nurture and form their own core competencies.Before making choices of the diversified industry,the resource-based enterprises should consider whether the core competencies to be ported to a wide range of business,or through a diversified business to cultivate and enhance their core competencies.Only to meet the above conditions,the resource-based enterprises will be able to obtain long-term competitive advantage and then be able to obtain long-term development.
