Research About Social Responsibility Information Disclosure Of Listed Companies Of China’s Nonferrous Metals Industry

Since the reform and opening up, China’s economic situation and the market systemhas made tremendous progress. But compared with Western developed countries, China’smarket economic system is still in development. Good economic environment requires ahigh degree of market transparency and integrity of the information disclosure system. Thedisclosure of information on corporate social responsibility is especially important. Inrecent years, a series of ecurity incidents and environmental pollution accident makenegative impact on our corporate image and social integrity. The behaviors that lack ofsocial responsibility hinder long-term development of enterprises.As we all know, China has a wide range of resources and the total amount ofresources is the largest in the world. But the consumption of resources and resources percapita is far behind the developed countries. China is still a resource scarce country. Thecontradiction between resource exploitation and environmental protection have been amain contradiction during the economic development. In recent years, a large number ofcompanies achieve their economic development through environmental pollution anduncontrolled exploitation of resources. This phenomenon cause rapid deterioration of theecological environment. Non-ferrous metals industry is an important raw material supplyindustry in China. It has characteristics like high energy consumption and environmentalpollution. Non-ferrous metals industry is also closely linked with manufacturing,machinery, communications equipment and other basic industries. In the21st century, non-ferrous metals industry achieved rapid development. In addition to being the beneficialeffects of the economic environment, most companies in the industry also uses a simplepoor metal smelting process to reduce production costs. This means to reap high profits atthe same time bring a lot of emissions, waste water effluent and waste accumulation. Somecompanies even ignore the dangerous of this industry. They reduce investment in safetyand build illegal construction of production facilities.They treat the safety of staff and community like nothing. That brings frequent outbreaks of large scale pollution and staffcasualties. As a typical industry with high energy consumption and high pollution, non-ferrous metals industry must assume their social responsibility. They must be attention toefficient use of energy management, improve the ecological environment, enhance thesafety of their staff and security measures. They must be voluntarily accept the supervisionand inspection of stakeholders and take social liability issues as the direction of enterprisedevelopment.This paper is based on a lot of literature about social responsibility informationdisclosure in non-ferrous metals industry. Take the non-ferrous metals companies appearedon the market before2014as sample. Analyze such companies’ brochures,2010-2013Annual Report and Social Responsibility report.I have discovered the social responsibilityinformation disclosure of metal industry exists some problems. Problems like disclosureforms are not standardized, lacking of comparability, and the level of reliability is low. Byreferring to the advanced approaches in foreign countries,this paper try to build China’ssocial responsibility information disclosure system of nonferrous metals industry.
