In such a so-called eyeball economy era, image has become the focus. Individuals, companies let alone cities, regions even countries, all involve the problem of image. With the development of economy and improvement of living standards, travelling has become an important lifestyle and a socio-economic activity. Meanwhile, tourism has become the most dynamic industry in modern global economy. With the rapid development of tourism, especially that in cities, image of urban tourism is gaining more and more concern from the government and various departments. Visual image of urban tourism as one of the essential elements of urban image plays an important role in highlighting urban personality and in improving urban quality.Tourist city counts on image to arouse the motivation and demand of tourists. Without distinctive tourism image, it is difficult to attract tourists for a long time. Therefore, outstanding design and application of travelling brand image can amplify a city’s competitive power and bring it huge economic and social benefits.This paper determined to employ my hometown-Rizhao as an object for the study of how to design and promote urban travelling image. The author first studied the related literature about urban travelling image, analyzed its connotation and characteristics, and then proposed a detailed analysis from aspects of its present situation, building and promotion. Combined with the above research, the author put forward the corresponding countermeasures of building and promoting travelling brand image of Rizhao.
