The beach, an enduring recreational tourism resource, has been chased after by the publicLarge-scale development of the coastal economy led to changes in coastal hydrodynamics, therefore coastal topography has changed. Haizhou Bay has the only unique bedrock sandy coast in Jiangsu province and developed a number of small-scale bathing beaches. But affected by the construction of coastal projects, multiple beaches degraded. Xishu Bay in the area of Haizhou Bay was originally a bathing beach, after the completion of the West Breakwater in West-and-east island, hydrodynamic conditions in the Gulf was changed,which caused siltation deepen and mudding scrapped. In recent years, the construction of new urban surrounding Xishu and Haizhou Bay Ocean Park offers a new opportunity to Xishu beach. The repair and restoration of Xishu beach focus on beach restoration, combine with landscape design and infrastructure construction, in order to build a new city public recreational beach, meanwhile an external environment of upscale residential area and affiliated greenway park of municipal roads.Our research group has three times shore beach profile measurements and sediment sampling from August 2014 to March 2015 in totally. Through comparative analysis of the elevation each time, we find that Xishu Area is weak in hydrodynamic environment. After the repair of artificially filling with sand,the shoreline at mean sea level is in a changing process in three quarters, the middle of artificial filling area silt into the sea from August to November,and erosion occurred a little in eastern and western headland;From November to March in the following year, affected by strong hydrodynamic in winter,the sea level occurred onshore invasion overall, which basiclly matches the sea level after the completion of construction.Beach terrain is relatively stable overall, and constantly adapt to local hydrodynamics with self-adjustment.The elevation between 3-6 meters in artificial sand filling area does not change on the whole. It was found from experience of sediment grain size, artificial sand filling area is given priority to with sandy sediments, deposits at the junction of filling area and natural shoreline area are silty sand, and scope expanding with time. The fact shows that after curing of artificial filling with sand, part of the sandy lost to natural marsh surface under tidal wave action. It makes the sandy content of natural beaches increase, but meanwhile the sandy shoreline is still stable overall.Comparison on terrain and sediment grain size analysis shows that the overall effect of Xishu beach restoration project is well, the morphology and quality of sandy beach is comparatively stable, and the diversity of landscape increased, and public infrastructures are ameliorated. However, management after the completion of the project is still necessary to strengthen. Clean up garbage on beach face regularly to maintain the overall effect of repair.
