Rooming-in is the postpartum parenting method that is highly recommended bythe medical field, which can satisfy the important demands of both mother and infantsin physiology and mentality. The inconformity of the sleeping of the mother andinfants will reduce the sleeping quality of the mother and affect the recovery of theirhealth, or even lead to mental problems and finally affect the infants which wouldresult in vicious circle. This paper firstly takes the necessity of the rooming-in as well as thecommunications between mother and infants and the consequent sleeping problems ofmother and infants as the research background and proposes the problems that couldbe solved in this paper, including the contradictions between the benefits ofrooming-in and the decrease of sleeping quality of the mother and taking mother andinfants sleeping together as the effective solutions and the infeasibility. By theresearch of the users’ conduct, the paper will present the severe conditions confrontedby the mother in sleeping to test the contradictions between rooming-in and motherand infants sleeping together. Combined with the research of consumption view of themother, the design will be identified. According to the classification analysis, theinfeasibility will be deprived of so as to deduce the clear design directions. Based onthis, in-depth investigation will be made according to ergonomics, security standards. Finally, the final fulfillment of the design will be discussed. This paper finally puts forward the design of systematic sleeping products basedon the concept of non-departure of mother and infant as the solutions for thecontradictions of rooming-in and mother and infants sleeping together. On the basis ofthe minimum burden of raising children of the mother, the parenting philosophy oftemperature sense for non-departure of mother and infants should be advocated.
