For medium to medium hard formations, PDC Bit has good efficiency,high penetration rate,long footage and good service time for breaking rock. Union this, PDC Bit plays an important part in worldwide petroleum and welling drilling industry. For now, the footage which PDC Bit undertakes accounts for more than80%of all. Accompany with the development of petroleum industry, the number of exploration well is increasing year by year, but the difficult is also increasing dramatically and prominent-poor drillability in deep formation long drilling circle、high drilling cost, which raises more requests for the abilities of PDC Bit. Therefore, polycrystalline diamond compact,as the main cutting unit of PDC Bit cutting tooth, whose performance almost determines the overall performance of PDC Bit, thus affecting the PDC Bit’s drilling result and service life. The paper makes the PDC cutting tooth’s failure analysis,contrastive analysis of several polycrystalline diamond compacts’ micro structures both at home and broad、relevant research works of abrasive resistance and shock resistance and so on. The research of this paper can be applied to physical design of PDC Bit cutting tooth, as well as the optimizations of material prescription and preparation technology, thereby providing the basic for the research and practice of PDC Bit.Specific work carried out in this paper are as follows:(1) Making the investigations of PDC Bit’s application and research at home and broad, collecting the PDC Bit’s current situation on oil field locale and PDC cutting tooth’s samples, datas and picture, thus understanding the operating feature, state of development and research quality, specifying the direction and contents of this paper.(2) Making an analysis of failure on PDC Bit cutting tooth under the basis of site investigation. Finding the main component of PDC Bit cutting tooth’s failure, and carries on the research of failure’s cause and mechanism. The main failure forms of PDC Bit cutting tooth are tooth’s abrasion, breakage and falling off. The main reason for tooth failure is that because the mechanical injury from shocking and breaking rock in the course of drilling process. And also because the abrasive resistance and shock resistance of cutting tooth’s material are not strong, and the binding ability of cutting tooth’s metal base and diamond layer is not good.(3) Micro structure analysis of several typical composite sheet. In view of each compacts’ polycrystalline diamond layer, polycrystalline combining layer and diamond layer, electronic speculum test is used to make a morphology observation for microstructure. Thus comparative analysis the constituent of each compact by means of X-ray diffraction, explaining each polycrystalline diamond compact’s structural features and the cause of the failure from a microscopic perspective. (4) Making experiments with several typical compacts at home and broad for researching the abrasive resistance and shock resistance. Making experiments with polycrystalline diamond compact, comparing their performance, Thus researching the relation between micro structure and performance, laying the theoretical foundation for improving the performance of PDC and optimizing the preparation technology.(5) The factors to influence the performance of polycrystalline diamond compact and the improved methods.Finding the factors to influence the performance of polycrystalline diamond compact and give a method to improve. Laying a foundation for improving the structural design and quality of the polycrystalline diamond compact.
