Energy industry becomes increasingly important in today’s society. Long-distance pipeline transport of natural gas directly reflects the level of development of a country’s industrial and transport modernization. Pipeline transport of natural gas, which is flammable and explosive, outperforms the traditional transport, including land and sea, road, rail way, airplane, etc., in the traffic cost, safety and so on.Patrol inspection of the long-distance natural gas pipeline is importance for maintaining the normal operation of the pipeline. The traditional way of pipeline patrol inspection is manual inspection and recording. The status of the patrol inspection route, instrument circumstances, defect information, etc. are recorded manually by workers after they inspection. Manual patrol inspection is hardly suitable for the production and development of modern long-distance natural gas pipeline transport because of its low-efficiency, high-cost, bad-normative, and low-controllability. In order to effectively manage and maintain long-distance natural gas pipeline, it is necessary to develop an advanced long-distance natural gas pipeline patrol inspection system taking the advantages of computer science, geographic information science, etc., and then form a comprehensive, systematic and scientific pipeline integrity theory and technology, promoting the development of new management concept of pipeline.In this thesis, a long-distance natural gas pipeline patrol inspection solution based on Android mobile devices is designed and implemented. During the designing and implementation, we intensively studied some existing smart-device-based patrol inspection systems, and also, the shortcomings of existing systems and the requirements of the enterprise are considered. Main contents of this thesis including:1. Critical theories and technologies related to the system are described, with the analyzing of advantages and disadvantages of various technologies in detail in order to determine the development methodology.2. A full requirement analysis is provided based on the characteristics of the production and the management of the enterprise. Based on the system requirements and considering the basic principles of software development, the design of the system is described, including the goals of the system, design principles, system architecture design, and database design.3. Some critical issues during the system implementation is presented, including key technologies and system deployment, etc.The aim of this thesis is to implement the automation and intelligence of the reporting, indexing of the patrol inspection of long-distance natural gas pipeline, taking the advantages of advanced computer technology and management science. We intend to provide data support for the production plan, management, safety, and decision of natural gas enterprises. Also, the system provides a convenient toolkit of collecting and statistics for different users.
