Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is a one-atom-thick planar sheet of sp2-bondedcarbon atoms densely packed in a honeycomb crystal lattice. In recent years, thehybrid of rGO and mental has been a research hotspot because of its catalyticapplications. For example, Au/rGO can be used as a catalyst for hydrogenation ofnitrobenzene, and Pt/r*O catalyzed the hydr ge ati f&≡&a d&&.In this thesis, we modified rGO with FeC2O4and Co(OAc)2by bothultrasound/reflux and in situ modification, then used them to catalyze the reaction ofaromatic nitro conpounds. In the reaction, the amount of hydrazine hydrate can bereduced to20%excess with high product yield under reflux. We compared thecatalytic performance of different catalysts with various metal contents and throughdifferent methods. There are advantages for the selected catalyst. The preparationprocess was simple, and it could be reused5times with high catalytic activity. Thereaction had excellent selectivities for aromatic nitro compounds containing chloroand ester groups. Besides, m-dinitrobenzene was reduced to m-nitroaniline in thepresence of Fe/rGO with a selectivity of99%. The catalysts with good catalyticperformance were charectarized by AAS, FT-IR, TG, XRD and TEM.In summary, we proposed new methods to prepare Fe-and Co-modified rGOs viasimple procedure. As new catalysts, modified rGOs were able to efficiently catalyzethe reduction of nitroarenes to anilines with hydrazine hydrate. Excellent selectivitieswere achieved for nitroarenes containing chloro, hydroxyl and ester groups as well asdinitro compounds. The method of reduction of aromatic nitro compounds is simpleand environmentally friendly.
