Small molecular organic materials have attracted more scientific and technological interests due to their good thermal stability, optical and electrochemical properties. Especially for symmetric polyarylate compounds comprise the large planar and rigid conjugated structures allowing efficient charge-injection and transfer, can be use as luminescent materials. Four different subjects of compounds were designed and synthesized. The structures of these compounds were characterized by 1H NMR, 13 C NMR and HRMS. The thermal, optical and electrical properties of the compounds were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations.1, 4-di(thiophen-3-yl)naphthalene as subject, six planar rigid structure of the thiophene-substituted naphthalene derivatives were synthesized through Suzuki coupling reaction. Since thiophene structure have aromatic character, good stability and high electron density, it can reduce the HOMO energy level, and it is beneficial to hole transport. Therefore, these compounds can exhibit good optical performance.Naphthalene-1, 4-diyldiboronic acid as subject with different aryl-substituted mono-brominated carbazole derivatives occurred Suzuki coupling reaction. Four carbazole-substituted naphthalene derivatives were synthesized. These compounds have symmetrical twisted rigid structure, their photoluminescence spectra in the solid state showed red shift respect to in the solution. It is prospected to synthesis these compounds used as blue emitting materials.Indolo[2, 3-a]carbazole as subject, five twisted rigid structure of indolocarbazole derivatives were synthesized through Suzuki coupling reaction. These compounds having widely energy gap can be beneficial to electronic transfers and transport, exhibited good optical performance.Indolo[3, 2-b]carbazole as subject, six symmetric rigid structure of indoloindolo derivatives were synthesized through Suzuki coupling reaction. These compounds have good conjugated structure, can exhibit blue light emission stably both in dilute solutions and solid films. So they are able to be used as blue emitters in organic light-emitting materials.
