In recent years, with the increasing of application and productivity of plastic products, the quantity of needing plastics machinery has been grown gradually. Research shows that there are more than 60%of the plastic is processed by extrusion, and that extrusion has become one of the most important processing method for polymer materials. In the field of extrusion, single-screw extruder is believed to appear in the earliest and most technologically perfect, but its performance was quite limited. The development of extruder has focus on parallel twin-screw extruder, and twin-screw extruder is currently the focus of research at home and abroad.Screw and barrel are the most important components of the extruder. As abundant after sale service statistics showed that the quality of the screw and barrel and their assembled process has a major influence on the quality of the extruded products quality. This paper will be taking the example of a plastic co-rotation twin-screw extruder, SJSH-104X50A from Dalian Rubber & Plastics Machinery Co., Ltd. as the sample type of the extruder, and research further towards its assembling and machining processes. As suggested below:Introduced the research background, significance and the composition of co-rotating twin-screw extruder, twin screws classification and characteristics; describes designing process of the twin screw extruder and its current research status.The structure and application of a twin-screw are described, by processing company screw mandrel and the helical element analysis study. Belongs to slender spindle shaft parts, machining focus is on preventing deformation, so the process went through a number of stress, and introduced UG modeling process based on helical elements, and the company recently commissioned a similar twin-screw extruder to mandrel detection result of the helical elements and the engagement block analysis.According to those common problems that the company may come across while assembling the extruder screw, this paper summarizes the assembly process before concluding machining procedure. Meanwhile, on the mandrel, the helical elements, kneading blocks were assembled into the screw profile shape analysis.For machining and assembling company status and the extruder barrel machining and assembly problems, a detailed analysis will be provided in this paper in order to work out the specific processing methods, and also to ensure the parallelism between the sectional barrel axises.In conclusion, this paper shows its distinctiveness in its research of assembly process of this twin-screw extruder screw and barrel. It has its novelty in contributing to improving the quality of manufactured plastic extruder as well as shortening the processing cycle. It could be said that this paper has a profound influence on developing our company’s plastics machinery industry, and more importantly, improving the company’s competitiveness among other rivals in this industry.
