Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE) fiber is the third generation fibers with ultra-high strength ultra-high modulus. Because of its high strength, high modulus, low density, low temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, etc. excellent performance, making the UHMWPE fiber products are widely used in the field of defense industry and protective equipment.In our country UHMWPE fiber is the only high-performance fibers with international competitiveness, but there are still many problems. This subject chosen for different uses UHMWPE fibers as the research object, its morphology and molecular structure began to research, testing and characterization of UHMWPE fibers, study its structure and performance(especially special environment performance) characteristics. The main contents include:(1) Using advanced instruments such as Quanta 450 field emission scanning electron microscope, Frontier Spotlight 400 FT-IR type Fourier transform infrared / near-infrared dual-band image analyzer, RAPID II X-ray diffraction, etc. study of UHMWPE fibers morphological and structural characteristics. Found that morphological and structural characteristics of different samples is similar;(2) Studied the tensile properties of UHMWPE fibers. Meanwhile, designed the research methods of UHMWPE fibers cut resistance, and the realization of UHMWPE fibers cut resistance characterization. Found that TM-35 has the highest cut resistance breaking strength, can be used as the preferred cut-resistant material. TM-30 has the lowest resistance to cutting breaking strength, can not be used as a cut-resistant material. TM-32 can be used for different levels of anti-cutting products;(3) Using STA 449 F3 Jupiter ® Simultaneous TG-DSC product and DMA 242 C, study of thermodynamic properties of UHMWPE fibers. Found melting starting temperature and crystallinity have some relevance. TM-35 has better heat resistance. UHMWPE fiber and its products using temperature should not exceed 70 ℃. These samples have better low temperature toughness, except TM30.
