As China continuing to be more modernized, and changing from a manufactural country to an innovated country, the pollutants, which are caused by the production, such as waste water, waste gas, and residual emissions of harmful substances, are leading to environmental degradation, and seriously affecting the surrounding residents’ health, making people to be sick and have cancer. In order to monitor environmental pollution, a lot of monitoring systems and devices are developed and put into use. After analyzing the existing environmental monitoring systems, many problems appear. In many different places, the monitoring systems are not connected to the Internet, so that monitoring data cannot be shared and the utilization is low. Because of this, some data are repeatedly monitored, which is a serious waste of resources. Also, the existing monitoring systems are limited in the scope of area, and they cannot complete more complex data analyzing and data processing, and they are insufficient in ways of processing monitoring data. Combined with the Internet of Things technology, GIS technology, signal detection technology, and data transmission technology, it proposes an implementation scheme to combine these technologies together, to achieve the purpose of orientating environmental pollutants’ location, transmitting and displaying on the GIS system intuitively, fast, and efficiently. In the system, it can be designed to mark monitoring data from different places on the map in time, for example the monitoring sensors are placed on a movable vehicle, and the monitoring position can be selected and changed anywhere, so it has a high mobility. To reach the goal, the author first uses the BeiDou circuit module to receive the geography location signal of the vehicle, then together it with the environmental indicators which are monitored, in the control of the central processor, transmitted to environmental monitoring center’s computer through GPRS transmission module. The data is dealt with the Map X component, map software MapInfo Professional and Winsock component, automatically marked on the PC interface’s geographic information system, data is refreshed every 5 seconds, maps with zoom-in, zoom-out and panning functions, so that it makes the environmental monitoring personnel knows the monitoring values from different locations flexibly, conveniently and immediately, to provide a basis for scientific decision-making. Its topic is highly relevant and practical. The research work of the text is mainly reflected in the following aspects: First, by reviewing a large number of documents, the development status of domestic and overseas environmental pollution remote monitoring technologies are analyzed and compared, based on the existing geographic information system theory and means of data transmission, focusing on how to use the BeiDou navigation satellite system to orientate pollutants, to use GPRS network to transport data, to use VB to make maps and have monitoring data labeled on the map automatically, putting forward the design ideas and the overall framework design of the remote monitoring system. Second, the designs of system’s hardware circuits have been made, including the BeiDou circuit module, the central processing module and the GPRS transmission module. Among them, GPRS transmission module is constituted by SIM300 module, the BeiDou circuit module is constituted by the Dongguan TaiDou microelectronics technology co., LTD’s TD3017 module, which supports Compass II B1 frequency point and global positioning system L1 frequency point, the central processing module is made up with the low-cost and high-performance STC12C5A60S2 microcontroller. Third, the system software has been designed, including the use of Keil company’s Keil μVision4 programming software which makes the TD3017 module and the SIM300 module under the STC12C5A60S2 microcontroller’s control and send data to the distal end, and the system software is written by the C language software program. Using Pitney Bowes MapInfo Corporation’s desktop geographic information system software MapInfo Professional v11.0, which is on the Windows platform, to edit map graphics files. Software users can query and display the address on the map, and the users also can inquire about other data and make statistical operations with the data and make analyses of the query data, and the results of the analyses will be represented on the map. In addition, with the use of MapX, which is Pitney Bowes MapInfo Corporation’s programmable component, it can complete a series of functions, such as zooming in, zooming out and panning on the map. The Winsock component is added up to the programming software, so that the programming software has access to the network. Forth, tests of system’s hardware and software functions are carried out. Results show that the system can complete a series of works, such as receiving and extracting BeiDou signal, and then transmitting them wirelessly and being displayed on the GIS platform and the remote wireless positioning function of the system is realized. The study is able to monitor pollutant values from different locations flexibly through the design. When the monitor is placed on a movable vehicle, values and locations of the monitoring points can be immediately displayed on the computer screen as the vehicle is travelling. With these values and locations, people who are monitoring can find out the pollutant source immediately.
