In recent years, the world economy has achieved rapid development, but the energy crisis is exacerbated, and global carbon dioxide emissions is increased sharply, which have resulted in more serious greenhouse effect, seriously impacting on human survival and development. Therefore, seeking a low-carbon economic development model has been focused by the world.Low-carbon economy, as the inevitable product of the world economy, urges the government to formulate appropriate carbon reduction policies and enterprises to seek low-carbon production modes. As the world’s three recognized carbon reduction mechanisms, mandatory emission reduction policy, carbon tax policy and carbon trading policy, which have laid the theoretical foundation for the government to formulate carbon emission reduction policies. Remanufacturing as a "Win-win" mechanism of enterprises, can not only create a new economic growth point, but also reduce their carbon dioxide emissions, which provides a new way to achieve a low-carbon production and management for enterprises. Therefore, if the external emission reduction mechanisms-carbon emission reduction policies and internal driving factors-remanufacturing are combined to implement, low-carbon production of enterprises and the government’s carbon reduction target would be achieved, and the rapid development of low-carbon economy be promoted.Automobile, as a traditional pillar of the global economic growth, although which has made outstanding contribution to the development of the world economy, its core Power unit-the engine produces a variety of pollutants in the entire life cycle, e.g. exhaust gas, waste water and waste residue, which have seriously impacted on the survival environment of the human. Especially, carbon dioxide produced is one of the main causes of global warming in the entire life cycle. Therefore, carbon reduction mechanism and remanufacturing production model combined can not only reduce global carbon dioxide emissions, but also promote low-carbon economic growth in the automotive engine industry.Based on the above reasons, the manufacturing/remanufacturing production system is regard as the object of study, and the influence of different carbon emission reduction policies on manufacturing/remanufacturing production decision of engine manufacturer is studied. Firstly, deepening the previous manufacturing/remanufacturing production decision model, Namely, in addition to considering the carbon emissions of new engine and remanufactured engine production process, and doing carbon emissions of the new engine and remanufactured engine during transport in the manufacturing / remanufacturing production decision model, manufacturing/remanufacturing production decision model is respectively established in mandatory emission reduction policy, carbon tax policy or carbon trading policy. Secondly, models are solved respectively to get the optimal production strategy by using K-T condition. Moreover, relevant conclusions are obtained through further analysis of the optimal strategy. Then, a numerical example is legitimately designed to analyze the impact of carbon cap, carbon tax, carbon trading, recycling situation of used engine, manufacturing/remanufacturing carbon emissions and the transportion carbon emissions on the optimal production decision, the optimal pricing decision, carbon emissions and total profit,and the corresponding revelations on production management for enterprises are summarized. Finally, comparative analysis of three carbon reduction policies shows the differences of them, low-carbon policy recommendations from a government perspective are given at the end.
