The development of the FNE oilfield began with using natural energy in 2010. After the implementation of steam stimulation, the average daily production was 2 to 3 times higher than before. Due to the obvious effect of steam stimulation, the First Party decided to further study the thermal recovery operations to carry out the pilot tests of steam flooding. In this paper, several aspects such as oilfield geological characteristics, oilfield development characteristics and reservoir engineering are adopted to research the pilot tests of steam flooding.The main layer of the heavy oil reservoir is Bentiu1 layer, a bottom water reservoir. Then comprehensive geological study with the investigation in geologic characteristic, layer group division, structural characteristics, reservoir characteristics and reservoir characteristics and so on.By analyzing the development effectiveness of the QI40 blocks, SHU175 blocks in Liaohe Oilfield and the combination with thermal recovery criterions at home and abroad, the preliminary view is that steam flooding is suit for the FNE oilfield. Then establish the principle of selecting the steam flooding test area, the test area and test wells group. Optimize gas injecting parameters by establishing a numerical model and completing reservoir engineering solutions of the test wells group.
