A cardanol phenol-formaldehyde resin is synthesized using cardanol and formaldehyde as raw material under the conditions of 35℃ for 1h. Then the cardanol based phenol-formaldehyde resin block polyether CPFE1 and CPFE2 are further synthesized using cardanol phenol-formaldehyde resin as initiator through polymerization with epoxy propane (PO) and epoxyethane (EO) under the conditions of 130℃,0.25Mpa. The CPFE1 and CPFE2 are characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and 1H-NMR spectroscopy.Using the visual method to research the hydrophilic properties of two kinds of CPFE, the results show that the cloud point, HLB value and water number of CPFE decline with EO content decrease.Using a drop-volum method to measure the surface tension of CPFE. The results show that the critical micell concentration (cmc) of CPFE1 and CPFE2 are 50mg/L and 55mg/L, respectively, surface tension values corresponding (γcmc) are 18.01mN/m and 20.94mN/m, respectively; The interfacial tension of CPFE are measured by the Spinning Drop Tensiometer, the results show that CPFE1 can reduce the oil-water interfacial tension to 0.85mN/m, CPFE2 can reduce the oil-water interfacial tension to 1.57mN/m.The breaking performance of the two kinds of CPFE demulsifiers are studied by bottle method, the results show that the dehydration rate can reach 93%, water in oil can reach 23.3%andoily water can reach 105mg/L at 120min, when the breaking temperature was 45℃, the added amount was 200mg/L. Under the same conditions, breaking performanceof the CPFE is better than commerciai demalsifier AR36.The experment of droplet form distribution and dense phase volume fraction show that demulsification ia better with the increase of demulsifier concentration and breaking temperature. The experimential results are consistent with the experimential results of demulsification performance.Using single drop method to research the breaking mechanisim of CPFE demulsifier by measuring the parameters of clean-up time of liquid membrance and half time etc. The results show that clean-up time of liquid membrance incerase, half time decline and cracking rate constant increase with the increase of CPFE demalsifier concentration.
