Triarylamine polymers as optoelectronic materials are always a hot topic researched. Triarylamine polymers are widely used in organic light-emitting diodes, organic solar cells, electrochromic and memory storage and other fields. Electrochromic materials can display a reversible color change under reversible voltage. Triarylamine polymers as electrochromic materials can be applied for which the lone electron pair on the nitrogen atom of triarylamine polymers is prone to reversible redox in electrolyte accompanied by a change in color.In this paper, 4-(4-aminophenoxy) pyridine and aromatic dibromide by Buchwald-Hartwig coupling reaction were directly synthesised to pyridine-containing triarylamine polymer(P1 and P2). P1 and P2 with 3-(chloromethyl)-5- [4-(trifluoromethyl) phenyl]-1, 2, 4-oxadiazole by quaternization reaction were respectively synthesised to triarylamine polymer of pyridine and quaternary ammonium salt contained(P3 and P4). The structures of the four polymers were characterized by IR and NMR. Thermal analysis indicated that P1 and P2 were of higher thermal stability than P3 and P4. The film of P1 and P2 respectively exhibited reversible electrochromic properties in TBAP/CH3 CN electrolyte solution, while P3 and P4 polymer film were also showed good electrochromic properties due to its containing quaternary ammonium salt can be self-doping under not added any electrolyte. The polymer molecules P3 and P4 of the triarylamine and the oxadiazole contained can formed charge-transfer complex type Donor-Acceptor in the molecule. Under an applied electric field, the polymers device of P3 and P4 had exhibited excellent bistable memory storage capability of FLASH type, the off current ratio(ON/OFF) to 103. These results indicate that triarylamine polymer of pyridine and quaternary ammonium salt contained(P3 and P4) as electrochromic material and memory storage material has good potential applications prospects.
