High concentrations of organic matter in the xanthan gum wastewater which occurring in the process of its production. The wastewater amount of volatility and the wastewater containing xanthan gum colloid, if it is directly discharged will contaminate the water body. This topic through the laboratory research of waste water containing xanthan gum colloid can biochemical properties and related research, get the following results:1 Under the condition of the medium temperature, the xanthan gum wastewater is disposed by UASB reactor, and when the COD in the water is between 1000 mg/L and 2000 mg/L, the COD removal ratio is above 80%. When the COD reaches 7000 mg/L, the reactor occurred acidification. Rapidly increase the volumetric load of the reactor, the volumetric load still can be reached 7 kg/m3·d, visibly, anaerobic (UASB) reactor could be used directly to xanthan gum wastewater.2 Gradually increased the COD of the wastewater to 3200 mg/L, and in the process adding a small amount of xanthan gum, and then gradually increase the solid content of the xanthan gum, from the beginning of 0 mg/L to 1200 mg/L at last. The COD removal ratio gradually decreased in the process of the treatment of the wastewater, and when the solid content of xanthan gum in the water reaching 800 mg/L, the reactor effluent be with a sticky feeling and take along sludge, the reactor sludge settling performance degradation. When the xanthan gum concentration in the wastewater up to 1200 mg/L, the waste water effluent COD rose rapidly, VFA rapid rose, four days after the reactor is acidification.3 Xanthan gum wastewater can be treated by anaerobic method and achieve stability in 10 kg/m3·d in volume load, and under the condition the COD removal ratio steady at 80% above. After the anaerobic treatment, the COD of the wastewater considerably be less, but the wastewater still need to be further processed, then it can achieved the emission standards..4 In the SBR system, the inflow water COD concentration is between 1100 mg/L and 2900 mg/L, the HRT from 48h down to 16h. With packing in the reactor, the effluent COD concentration is below 200 mg/L. Firstly, the effluent of the ammonia nitrogen content is below lmg/L, later increased to 30 mg/L. Without packing in the reactor, the effluent COD concentration is below 150mg/L; the effluent of ammonia nitrogen is below 1 mg/L, ammonia nitrogen removal rate reached more than 99.5%. And the effluent pH is about 8.5 A biochemical co. LTD. use IC as the main reactor to dispose xanthan gum wastewater. The wastewater after anaerobic treatment, the effluent COD concentration is about 1500 mg/L, and aerobic effluent is below 300 mg/L.
