The transition metal-catalyzed synthesis reactions can proceed under the mild catalytic reaction conditions, of which the catalytic activity of transition metal catalysts can be adjusted. Comparing to other kinds of transition metals like palladium and rhodium, silver as catalyst can show more advantages in the catalytic synthesis reactions such as more mild catalysis and storage conditions, promising the wide applications in the synthesis chemistry. Furthermore, aromatic carboxylic acids as the nucleophilic and electrophilic reagents can serve as the reactant substrates in a variety of synthesis applications. Using aromatic carboxylic acids as coupling reaction substrates, particularly, can possess the merits of rich material source, simple preparation, and easy storage, so that they are widely used in the decarboxylation coupling reactions.Chalcone ketones compounds can present some special biological properties like the ability against male sex hormone, destroying protein complexes, inhibiting malignant epithelial cell proliferation, and treatment of prostate disease. In addition, the chalcone ketones compounds can possess the performances of invigorating circulation of efficacy, swelling, pain, bleeding, etc. In the present thesis, a new synthesis method was developed by silver-catalyzed coupling decarboxylation reactions between alpha keto acids and cinnamic acids to yield a series of chalcone ketones compounds. Of note, the developed reaction system employed water as the reaction solvent, which would be extended as a green synthesis way in the synthesis chemistry field. The main content of this thesis mainly includes:1.Chalcone ketones compounds in recent years are reviewed, including the advantages and disadvantages of the current synthetic methods for all kinds of chalcone ketone compounds. And the research progress in the coupling reactions using silver catalysts is summarized.2. The performances of silver catalysts were studied in the decarboxylation coupling reactions between alpha-keto acids and cinnamic acids. The main reaction conditions are optimized as silver nitrate as catalyst, Na2S2O8 as oxidizing agent, H2 O as solvent, potassium carbonate as reaction base, and reaction temperature of 100 oC. Using the optimized reaction conditions, a series of chalcone ketone compounds were synthesized with good yields.
