With the rapid economic development and the progress of industrial automation, automation equipment is being improved to meet the production needs. Control devices now have comparatively good control systems, however, in order to accelerate the productivity of enterprises, and bring more benefits to them, automation equipment needs to be further developed and applied. Today, a wide variety of automation controllers have different functions. It remains an urgent problem how to integrate multi-functions such as motor run controlling, test system parameters and touch operation into a more powerful control system. This paper introduces an integrated controller for LCD touch panel universally used on shot peening machine.With domestic and foreign situations taken into account, such controller is designed for efficient and quick operation of the shot peening machine so as to improve working efficiency. A general controller is only for a certain type of shot peening machine, while such controller is a universal type, combining hardware and software suitable for the work program of most shot peening machines in different types. The controller is based on practical application environment and operation mode of shot peening machines. The paper first introduces the control system as a whole, including the design, function, control mode and operation interface. There are two control modes, automatic mode and manual mode. In the automatic mode, the shot peening machine works on previously prepared programs, while in manual mode, the parameters can be manually modified to enable the machine to work in different situations. Then the controller’s hardware system is introduced. STM32F103 is the core processor of control system. It has 56-channel digital inputs, 48-channel relay output, 2-channel analog output, 3-way temperature detection, 1-channel RS-232 communication as well as a LCD touch panel. The operation can be conducted according to the instructions on the panel. Peripheral hardware includes power modules, input/output modules, temperature detection modules, communication modules, clock and storage modules. The software is developed based on Real View MDK and includes each program of the control system as well as the whole system of program flow, which can assure the interface switching between model selection, manual/automatic selection, auxiliary operation, alarm and parameter setting. Finally, commissioning work is carried out for each module of the control system based on combination of hardware and software so as to improve the stability of the system. The major advantages of the controller are high integration, small volume, reduction of commissioning work, reduction of cost and a tendency for industrialization.In the last part, the paper draws a conclusion on the control system, and points out the shortcomings of the controller and the improvements to be made, which lays a foundation for further research and development of such products.
