Today the welding technology in our country is far lower than the welding technology in foreign countries. Not only does the traditional manual welding exist poor working environment and welding quality, but it is difficult for automated welding systems to meet the mass production of complex structure. The CO2 gas shielded in rotating arc welding that is a mature welding technology in our country is widely used in industrial production. To improve the stability and tracking precision of automatic seam tracking system on CO2 gas shielded in rotating arc welding, it’s necessary to study the impacts of temperature field on welding position. The welding process is analyzed by finite element method in the paper.Firstly, the development of numerical simulation is introduced. Then it draws a conclusion that SYSWELD software used in welding simulating is reasonable from reviewing the present numerical methods. Combined with the actual welding parameter and result on the CO2 gas shielded in rotating arc welding, the whole welding processes was simulated. Used it to correcting for heat source, the transient temperature distribution map and the thermal cycle curve of feature point are analyzed. The whole welding processes of the CO2 gas shielded in rotating arc welding was simulated. The relationship between welding position, molten pool shape and he weld temperature field is studied. What’s more, it is explained from the standpoint of mechanics. To verify the correctness of the model, the related experiment is done and the temperature of key points of welding was measured by measuring temperature system.By contrasting the result of simulation with experimental data, the results show that the simulation results agree well with the experimental results, which validated the accuracy of this model. In this paper, a combination method of theory and empirical was used. a reasonable model of CO2 gas shielded in rotating arc welding is established, which not only provides a theoretical basis for analysis of stress and strain but also provide prerequisite for the new algorithm on seam tracking.
