Based on numerous domestic and foreign references and standards, refer to the analytical methods of good accuracy and high sensitivity, this paper put fordward with the determination methods of nonylphenol ethoxylates, isothiazolinone and choline for the characteristics of the tobacco packaging materials water-based glue and paper, and it’s main content could be explained out as the following four aspects:1. This chapter briefly describes the current situation of cigarette packing materials, introduces the basic physical and chemical properties of nonylphenol ethoxylates, isothiazolinone and choline and its introduces in cigarette packing materials. It mainly focuses on introducing the analytical methods of good accuracy, high sensitivity and suitable for batch processing of samples, presenting the HPLC-FLD for nonylphenol ethoxylates in water-based adhesive, HPLC-PAD for isothiazolinone in water-based adhesive and IC-ELCD for choline in paper.2. A normal phase high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) method had been established for determination of nonylphenol ethoxylates in water-based adhesive. The HPLC separation was performed on a Inertsil HPLC column NH2(4.6×150mm×5μm) with a gradient elution program of Cyclohexane-isopropanol-water as the mobile phase at the flow rate of 0.5m L/min and 30℃. The detection excitation wavelength was 230 nm and the emission wavelength was 305 nm. There were good linear relationships between the mass concetrations and the peak areas of nonylphenol ethoxylates in the range of 5-100μg/m L(r2=0.9997). The recoveries were 81.04% ~ 83.94% with the relative standard deviations(RSDs) less than 4.08%. The limit of detection of nonylphenol ethoxylates was 8.17mg/kg(3σ,n=11). Nonylphenol ethoxylates in water-based glue was determined by this method and shows satisfactory result.3. A high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) method had been developed for determinations of 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(MI) and 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(CMI) in water-based adhesive. The HPLC separation was performed on Waters C18 column(250mm×4.6mm×5μm) with a gradient elution program of methanol-water as the mobile phase at the flow rate of 0.8m L/min and 30℃. The detection wavelength was 275 nm. There were good linear relationships between the mass concetrations and the peak areas of 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(MI) and 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(CMI). The limits of detection of 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(MI) and 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(CMI) were 0.3 mg/kg and 0.98 mg/kg(3σ,n=11)respectively, and the recoveries of them were 91.9%~93.7% and 86.5%~90.0% respectively. The relative standard deviations(RSDs) for them were below 2.28%. The method was simple and fast, accurate and steady, it was suitable for detection of 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(MI) and 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one(CMI) in water-based adhesive.4. This chapter presented an ion chromatographic(IC) method for the detection of choline in paper for the tobacco packaging. Paper extracted with hydrochloric acid solution. The extraction solvent was centrifuged and then analyzed by ion chromatographic which performed on cation exchange column-conductivity detector. The external standardmethod for quantitative. The sample preparation process(the concentration of hydrochloric acid, extraction time, extraction volume) were optimized by orthogonal experiment. The limits of detection of choline were 7.58 mg/kg(3σ,n = 11), The relative standard deviations(RSDs) were below 1.88%. A result is satisfied when testing choline in in paper for the tobacco packaging.
