Currently, both domestic and international press on unhealthy packaging security incidents frequently reports. Due to having various advantages in mechanical properties and other aspects, paper packaging is becoming the main kind of materials in food industry. However, during manufacture and subsequent treatment, some chemical additives were still within the paper packaging. Some of those toxic chemicals can migrate into foods and threat the health of consumers. So the researches on toxic chemicals analysis and migration theory within food paper packaging materials become an international hot topic.Chapter 1:Brief introduction to current status of using paper materials in food packaging industry, the potential contaminants in paper packaging, relevant rules and regulations, the domestic and international research progress and achievements, and based on these reviewers research content of this thesis and innovative points were put forward in this chapter.Chapter 2:The inductively coupled plasma-emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) analysis method was developed for the determination of Pb, Cd, Cr and Hg in food contact paper. Under the optimal conditions of digestion temperature, time and the ratio of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide, the proposed method get effective pre-treatment and low detection limit, are suitable for the determination metal elements in food paper packaging.Chapter 3:The ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric (UPLC-MS/MS) method was developed for the determination of phenols, including 2,4,6-trichlorophenol(TCP), pentachlorophenol(PCP), 4-chloro-3,5-dimethylphenol (PCMX) and 4-tert-octylphenol (4-tert-OP), in food paper packaging. Under the optimal conditions of mobile phase, MS acquisition parameters, ultrasonic extract solvent and solid-phase extract purification, and the proposed method has been applied to determination of the phenols in commercial paper food packages. Chapter 4:A novel and simple method to detect isothiazolinone biocides (2-methyl-3-isothiazolinone(MI),5-chloro-2-methyl-3-isothiazolinone(CMI), 1,2-benzisothiazolinone (BIT) and 2-octyl-3-isothiazolinone (OIT)) in food paper packaging by ultrasonic extraction coupled with ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) was developed. Under the optimal conditions of mobile phase, MS acquisition parameters and ultrasonic extract solvent, and the proposed method has been applied to determination of the isothiazolinones in commercial paper food packages.Chapter 5:Migration investigations were creatively carried out a series of biocides (2-methyl-3-isothiazolinone (MI), 1,2-benzisothiazolinone(BIT) and 2-octyl-3-isothiazolinone (OIT) on paper packaging materials in contact with solid food simulants Tenax and Porapak. After developing methods for migration test and quantitative determination, the migration behavior of these contaminants in paper were studied at varying temperatures, migration times and food simulants, finally two kinds of paper packaging for food purchased from local market were tested with the developing method.
