In the hot strip rolling process, external fluctuations and the qualitative or quantitative research have effect on the rolling precision. As a result, the multi-species and the variable parameters and the coupling make the deformation principles and load restraint boundary conditions for the entire rolling process. The majority of simulation research by FEM for the above factors is confined to explain the principles and rules of the complex deformation process. However, the research does not take the FEM software itself defects into account fully, such as a higher of theoretical and professional knowledge for users and the tedious pre-processing modeling and the inconvenient extration for the analysis in post-processing. And, the rolling relurs which based on the on-site commissioning and the measured data own a clear limitated application, and more biased in favor of orientation and a single variant description.For the problem described earlier, this article relies on the ABAQUS finite element software, and combine with the Python programm language to realize the secondary development for the hot strip rolling process and build a more complete rolling simulation system. The specific research tools: taking into the non-linear materials and geometric nonlinearity in the hot strip rolling process, this article based on the large-scale commercial finite element software ABAQUS / Explicit, and thermal- mechanical coupled rigid-plastic finite element method, build a stand- level rolling and finishing rolling simulation model; use the Python programm language to develop the kernel program which communicated with the graphical user interface GUI to create a simulation system for the hot strip rolling process which will be able to achieve the pre-processing model creation, job submission and automated post-processing of data access functions automatelly by selecting or entering the interesting variable reference simply on the system interface; use the 1549 hot rolling production data which provided by the steel mills to realize the different simulation for the different incoming specifications.In this paper, the development of simulation system for the entire rolling hot rolling process can improve the accuracy of the product effectively and simplify the creating process for a mechanism model effectively and shorten the strip process development cycle, and reduce the production costs, and provide a theoretical basis for developing the rolling procedures.
