Ko-chin huipien is the first specialized scientific journal which was published in Shanghai in1876, whose chief editor was a famous English named John Fryer. Through Ko-chin huipien, John Fryer promoted the knowledge of chemistry to all levers of the readers and made immeasurable contributions to popularize chemical knowledge. At present there had not been found that someone had the systematical study on chemical content in Ko-chin huipien. This article studied the chemical content of the magazine from three aspects:First, the article introduced the reason of opening, the editors’ situation, the column content and features and the relationship of The Peking Magazine.Second, the article combed and studied Ko-chin huipien from five aspects included inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry,chemical engineering and technology and readers’ question and answer.Third, the article explained the influence of Ko-chin huipien in late Qing Dynasty from four angles included the spreading situation in China at that time, the influence on the ordinary people,chemical education and modern journal.
