The Science Society Of Chinese And The Development Of Modern Chinese Chemistry

The ancient country had brilliant chemical achievements,but due to various reasons,it was obviously behind the world in the middle and late Qing Dynasty,and did not evolve modern chemistry with scientific theory and thought system.The establishment of the China Science Society,founded in 1914,has largely changed this situation.However,the academic community has not paid enough attention to the role of Chinese science society in the development of chemistry.Based on this,this paper intends to take Science,Science Illustrated as the main object of investigation,combined with the relevant archives of the Chinese Science Society and other periodicals in the Republic of China period to explore the role of the Chinese Science Society in the development of modern Chinese chemistry.Since the end of the Qing Dynasty,western modern chemistry has been gradually introduced into China,but the development effect is not ideal.After the establishment of the Chinese Science Society,it promoted the development of modern chemistry in China through the establishment of periodicals,translation of books,academic exchanges and the establishment of scientific bonuses.At the same time in the organization through the sub-committee of the establishment of chemical and chemical units almost including the vast majority of domestic chemical talent.This group is an elite group,most of engaged in chemical research and education,not only led to the development of Higher Chemistry Education in China,but also for the creation of various branches of modern Chinese chemistry has laid a solid foundation.The Chinese Science Society was founded with the editor’s publication of the monthly journal Science,so the editing and distribution of Science is one of the most important social affairs of the Chinese Science Society from start to finish.As the most important platform for the publication of academic research results by the Chinese Science Society,it represents the highestacademic achievement of the Chinese Science Society to a certain extent.As a platform,the members of the society have published papers,made great contributions to the unification of chemical nouns,the promotion of the dissemination of chemical knowledge and the collation of ancient chemical achievements,and contributed to the establishment of branch disciplines such as analytical chemistry,biochemistry and chemical history in China,and accelerated the development of modern chemistry in China.Nearly 20 years after the publication of Science,members of the society felt the lack of scientific popularity,so they founded the Journal of Science,and organized members to hold popular science lectures to promote scientific knowledge.Members of the society as a medium,to clarify the role of chemistry in production and life and war,introduce the family can complete the chemical experiment,shorten the distance between ordinary people and chemistry,so that chemistry as a natural discipline really began to be known and recognized by ordinary people,greatly accelerated the popularization of modern chemistry in China.In short,the Chinese Science Society,with Science and Science Pictorial as its main medium,has also carried out other activities,which have made great contributions to the introduction of modern Western chemical knowledge,the unification of chemical nouns,the conduct of chemical research,the consolidation of ancient chemical achievements and the acceleration of the popularization of chemistry,and the promotion of the development and progress of modern Chinese chemistry.And in this process shows the characteristics from "traditional" to "Western".However,limited to the background of the times and other factors,the Chinese Science Society in the process of developing modern chemistry,there has been a scientific omni-energy and failed to take into account the shortcomings of the grassroots level,worthy of further study and reflection.
