The PDM drill is currently the most widely used down-hole drill. Contributed to the continuous development of drilling engineering, the PDM drill continues to progress and improve. Motor is the core component of the PDM, the quality of which has a marked impact on the performance of the PDM drill.There are two kinds of motor stator linear. One is ordinary while the other one is equal-thickness. The ordinary stator processing is simple while equal-thickness one is difficult, but the ordinary stator is easier to be burned for the rubber’s hysteresis heat, and the ordinary motor is less effective than the equal-thickness one in the deep well for drilling fluid leakage. Based on the existing stator linear, the paper designed a new kind of stator linear which is named Xie Linear. After the finite element analysis, the new stator linear has been shown to improve work efficiency of PDM by increasing the rotor fixed engagement. And the temperature distribution shows good performance too. The specific work is as follows:(1) After studied the mechanism of stator hysteresis heat and established a stator rubber couple-thermo analysis model, the paper finally calculated the temperature distribution of stator hysteresis heat by writing the relevant calculation program and ABAQUS subroutine, and summarized the mechanism of stator heartburn.(2) After analysis of the key factors of effecting the present stator’s displacement and temperature such as ambient temperature, pressure, interference, and hysteresis heat, the paper Summed up the relevant laws and find the reason of drilling fluid leakage.(3) The paper proposed a new way named Instead Arc and established a new finite element model of new linear stator. The new stators’displacement and hysteresis heat temperature have been proved better after a computer simulation which could improve the efficiency of PDM drill while avoid the heartburn of the stator.(4) In order to improve work efficiency and shorten research time, the paper developed a software which could create calculation program and ABAQUS UMAT automatically.Through the work above, the paper summarized parts failure mechanisms of the present stators, designed a new kind of stator linear to improve the existing situation, provided analytical methods and ideas for the follow-up study of new stator linear, and laid the foundation for further study in Xie linear stator.
