Because of the rapid development of the modern precise manufacturing and micro-electronic manufacturing in the latest twenty years, consequently, higher requirements have been putted forward to the manufacture technology of the micro-drill bit.The rigidity and structural intensity of drill is analyzed based on the micro-drill CAD simulative system and the finite element method. Applying the principles of geometry and kinematics, the mathematical models of grinding wheel and flute are set up. According to the grinding principle of flank, the mathematical model of flank is set up. With the transformation of coordinate, the drill CAD simulative system has been developed on the basis of mathematical models. With the results of the system, such as the points of the section of flute and grinding parameters of flank, the 3D drill model is built. Various ratios of structural parameters, for example, the web thickness to the diameter, the flute length, the original point, chisel edge angle and the helix angle, drill models are calculated by using finite element software--ANSYS simulating the force in the process of drilling. Drill stress and deformations are observed contrastively in order to obtain the best optimizing structural parameters, as well as improving the cutting performance, tool-life and the quality of bore.An intuitionistic maneuverable system for optimizing structural parameters of drill is provided. The system predigests the process, abbreviates the time and reduces the cost of drill design. The research breaks through the traditional design and put forward an innovative design that is the optimization for the structures of drill based on the finite element analysis.
