In the rapid development of science and technology in today’s society, information technology, environmental protection, new energy, national defense and biotechnology developments make researchers to synthesis higher-performance materials. Noble metals nanomaterials have many unique physical and chemical properties different from other materials. In the optical, electronics, medicine, nanodevices and catalysis and many other field have a wide range of applications. Because of these characteristics, noble metal nanomaterials have attracted widespread attention by researchers. In this paper, a simple and rapid method to synthesis gold nanoparticles and using the surface plasmon resonance properties as a colorimetric detection probe to detect heavy metal Cr3+. Using bovine serum albumin functionalized gold nanoclusters and silver nanoclusters as fluorescence detection probe to detect nitroaromatic explosives and explore the preparation and application of test strips. In this paper, all the relative studies are outline as follows.(1) A simple and sensitive sensor for the detection of TNT and 4-NP using bovine serum albumin(BSA) functionalized fluorescent gold nanoclusters was developed. Using this probe, TNT and 4-NP can be detected at 10 nM and 1 nM based fluorescence quenching in a facile way, with high selectivity against other nitroaromatics. This probe was also applied to determine the vapour in the air.(2) A simple and sensitive sensor for the detection of TNT and 4-NP using BSA Ag-NCs and BSA AuAg-NCs was developed. Using this probe, TNT and 4-NP can be detected based fluorescence quenching in a facile way, with high selectivity against other nitroaromatics. This probe was also applied to determine the vapour in the air. All these results indicate that the BSA Ag-NCs and BSA AuAg-NCs provide an effective fluorescent platform for TNT and 4-NP detection with high sensitivity and selectivity.(3) The PDCA modified gold nanoparticles could be induced to aggregate quickly when in the presence of Cr3+ ions, which can be observed by colorimetric response and special SPR spectra of gold nanoparticles. The detection of Cr3+ could be realized after measuring the UV-vis spectra with a detection limit of 2 nM. The selectivity of this method has been investigated by other divalent metal ions. This probe was also applied to determine the Cr3+ in the lake samples, and the results demonstrate low interference and high sensitivity.
