In recent years, China’s economy grows rapidly. Due to the continuously increasing demand for steel pipe in all branches of the national economy is growing, the demand of high quality of the steel pipe is increasing. The cold rolled stainless steel tube is widely used in the petroleum and natural-gas industries, ocean engineering and many other industry sectors.The cold rolling pilger mill has continuously improved its performance and structure in function and optimization. Based on the 3 roller cold rolling pilger mill which is called CRTM-350 in a steel company, the paper includes studies of the following key technologies:(1) Based on the theory of cold rolling plastic deformation and analytic geometry principle, the roll pass design formulas of large-diameter three-roller cold rolling pipe mill are deduced.(2) In order to improve the accuracy of the pass of the large-diameter three-roller cold rolling pipe mill, parametric design of three-dimensional model of the roller is well developed using C# combined with Solidworks API based on the CAD software Solidworks. The results from the roll pass calculation software can be used for automatic modeling.(3) In order to verify the theoretic and guide the experiment, the whole rolling process of the large-diameter three-roller cold rolling pipe mill are simulated using Simufact. The paper analyses extensibility, rolling force, external diameter and wall thickness of the steel pipe. The rationality and feasibility of the groove design are verified by the field production of a series of pipes.
