Hydroxyapatite is denoted as HA or Caio(OH)2(P04)6), belonging to a kind of non-metallic Polymer materials; and chemical formula is Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2. The major inorganic composition of HA is similar to teeth and animal bones, which has ability to induce bone, excellent biocompatibility, and remarkable bioactivity. HA can be used for the preparation of a variety of hard tissue implant materials for its non-toxic, harmless, not carcinogenic, non-allergenic, stable chemical structure and promote new bone growth. Different morphology of HA decided it has many physiological functions, such as microscopic structures, surface areas and surface activity, which developing the application field of HA.In this study, a variety of morphology HA is successfully synthesized using Ca(NO3)2·4H2O and (NH4)3PO4·3H2O as raw materials and Stevioside as organic template via chemical precipitation method, biomineralization and biomimetic synthesis method in synthetic gel system. The porous hollow HA microspheres and flowers HA are obtained through controlling the concentration of Stevioside, different aging time and aging temperature. The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Thermogravimetric analyzers (TG). The results show that a systematic change of the synthesis conditions have influence on the different shape and microstructure of HA products, the interaction between the polar groups of the organic templates and Ca2+ in HA crystalline may be an important factor that affect the nucleation and growth of HA.
