Marine sponges were belonged to the porous phylum in taxonomy (Porifera). Previous studies reported many kinds of compounds such as alkaloids, macrolides, terpenes, nucleosides, sterols, amides, etc. have been isolated from marine sponges. They have been shown to have anti-clinical tumor activity, antiviral activity, antimicrobial activity, and inhibiting activity of enzymes.In this study, the moss sponge (Tedania sp.) was collected from the south water of Fujian of China.27 compounds were isolated from Tedania sp. by the method of oganic solvent extract, coloum chromatography, thin layer chromatography and high performance preparative chromatography.The chemical structures of 7 compounds JM01、JM02、JM03、JM04、AG6、BL6 and S03 were elucidated based on the data of NMR, mass spectrometry, ultraviolet, infrared optical rotation and other physical and chemical data and identified as 1H-indole-5-carbaldehyde、2-hydroxy-1-(1H-indol-5-yl)ethanone、5-azaindole N-phenylacetamide-N-phenylacetyl-acetamide、4-hydroxybenzoic acid N-(4-hydroxyphenethyl) acetamide and 2’-deoxythymidine. After literature retrieval, compound JM04 was regarded as new structure.The DPPH free radical scavenging experiment indicated that these compounds AG6, BL6, JM01, JM02, JM03, and JM04 had the obvious antioxidant activity with the method of thin layer chromatography-bioautography. We have evaluated the neuroprotective effects of these compounds. The results showed that compounds BL6, JM02, JM04, and S03 have significant inhibition of calcium oscillations and keep the balance of Ca2+. MTT cytotoxity test revealed that compound JM04 at the concentration of 0.2 μg/mL could inhibit the growth of HeLa cells with the inhibition rate of 33%. Compounds AG6, BL6, JM03 and JM04 at 0.6μg/ml could significantly inhibit the growth of glioma cells C6 with IC50 of 0.283,0.314,0.478,0.4380.473 μ.g/ml, respectively.The experimental results stated that Tedania sp. possess abundant bioactive compounds and lay the foundation for the medicinal development of Tedania sp.
