Acanthopanax extract,air-dried roots and aerial parts of Acanthopanax senticosus extract processing black brown paste. The herbal is bitter taste, smell fragrant. This is used as a folk medicine for the treatment of many kinds of diseases such as spleen estrangement and so on.The concentrated Acanthopanax extract was dissolved in water, and extracted with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, n-butyl alcohol and redistilled water to the extraction t oget several kinds of distilled matter. As the result, nineteen compounds were separate d from petroleum ether and EtOAc layers by the methods of silia gel column chromat ography, thin layer chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis o f 1H NMR and 13 C NMR. Nineteen compounds are 3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)-ac rylic acid octadecyl ester(1), 4-methoxy-benzoic acid(2), ?-sitosterol(3), trilinolein,(4), n-hexacosano(5), furan-2-carboxylic acid(6), 4-hydroxy-benzoic acid(7), oleanolic acid(8), 3-(4-hydroxy-phenyl)-acrylic acid(9), isovanillic acid(10), 4-amino-3-(2-met hoxy-ethoxy)-benzaldehyde(11), 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxy-benzoic acid(12), octadec-9-e noic acid 2,3-dihydroxy-propyl ester(13), 4,7,8-trimethoxy-2,3-dihydro-furo[2,3-b]quinoli ne(14), 7-hydroxy-6,8-dimethoxy-chromen-2-one(15), 7-geranyloxycoumarin(16), 2-(3,4-dihydroxy-phenyl)-3,5,7-trihydroxy-chromen-4-one(17), 4-methyl-pentan-2-one(18), ph thalic acid diisobutyl ester(19). Compounds 7, 8, 15, 17, 19 in acanthopanax have se parate reports, the rest of the compounds were obtained from acanthopanax and acanth opanax preparations for the first time.The bioactivity of 7 kinds of n-hexane extracts, ethyl acetate, and methanol extra ct from the Acanthopanax. The results showed that: n-hexane extracts, ethyl acetate la yer have antimicrobial effect, ethyl acetate layer is relatively better.Atomic absorption method to determine the content of four kinds of trace element s.Study on the antioxidant activity from different extraction of Acanthopanax extract(n-hexane, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, methanol layer), and using DPPH radicals. Ascorb ic acid and catechin were used as positive control. Results showed that ethyl acetate a nd methanol extracts have better antioxidant activity and isofraxidin antioxidant bioacti vities better than ascorbic acid.
